About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux Administrator with expertise in Splunk, OpenShift, Ansible, DevOps practices, and VMware virtualization technologies. This role involves managing and optimizing Linux-based systems, automating infrastructure tasks, and supporting enterprise-level applications within VMware and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale IT infrastructure while driving automation and best practices across a range of technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Linux System Administration:
- Manage and maintain Linux systems (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu) in a production environment.
- Ensure system security, perform patching, and implement performance tuning and optimization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues across various environments.
- Implement high availability, disaster recovery, and backup solutions for Linux servers.
- Splunk Administration:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Splunk instances, including forwarders, indexers, and search heads.
- Develop custom Splunk dashboards, reports, and alerts to monitor and analyze system performance and logs.
- Optimize data indexing, searching, and troubleshooting Splunk-related issues.
- OpenShift Administration:
- Administer and manage OpenShift container platforms, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Support application deployments, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting of OpenShift environments.
- Ensure timely updates, security patches, and upgrades of OpenShift environments.
- Ansible Automation:
- Develop, deploy, and maintain Ansible playbooks for automating system provisioning, configuration management, and patching.
- Work closely with development and operations teams to implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.
- Implement best practices for automation in large-scale environments.
- DevOps Practices:
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Git, and other DevOps technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of development and operations practices.
- Leverage containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) to improve scalability and deployment efficiency.
- VMware Administration:
- Administer VMware environments, including vSphere, ESXi hosts, and vCenter servers.
- Manage and monitor virtualized environments to ensure performance, resource optimization, and fault tolerance.
- Work with VMware tools to manage clusters, virtual machines, storage, and networking.
- Perform VMware upgrades, patching, and backup procedures.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Implement and manage monitoring systems for Linux, VMware, OpenShift, and Splunk to ensure system health and performance.
- Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and system failures, providing timely resolutions.
- Create proactive monitoring solutions to avoid system outages.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Collaborate with various teams to design, implement, and maintain infrastructure solutions.
- Document system configurations, processes, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing within the team.
- Contribute to post-mortem analyses and root cause investigations to prevent future issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 7-8 years of experience in Linux system administration, Splunk administration , VMware, , OpenShift management, Ansible, and DevOps practices.
- Proven expertise in Splunk & Linux server management (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Creating and maintaining dashboards
- Hands-on experience with Splunk architecture, deployment, and administration.
- Strong experience in containerization and Kubernetes/Openshift environments.
- Extensive knowledge of VMware infrastructure, including ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter.
- RHEL & SPLUNK certified
- DevOps Tools & Practices:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of infrastructure automation using Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
